The beautiful city of Azusa is also known as the Canyon City because it is the gateway to a robust canyon in the San Gabriel Mountains. The canyon provides refuge for many in the summer months as it is a popular outing for many families to visit the river and picnic. It also boasts a great off-roading scene, and if you take the winding road up the mountain you will be greeted by Crystal Lake café for some awesome hiking.
Azusa itself is a thriving city that has seen a lot of changes in the last 10 years and is becoming a hot spot for Angelenos looking to escape the busy life of downtown. With the rise of new construction, it has caught the eye of many as the go to city to live in. The last few years the addition of a flagship Target, the opening of two metro stops and the promise of a revitalized downtown area filled with restaurants and attractions such as the Laemelle Theatre, has made Azusa the perfect place to buy a home.
Azusa Pacific University brings in an influx of students that has really helped develop the areas of Citrus Crossing at the corner of Citrus Avenue and Alosta Boulevard. The shopping center provides a supermarket, several choice dining options, shopping and a movie theatre that hosts reduced priced showings.
As a more than 10 year resident of the city of Azusa, I can testify to the richness in culture, the desire to revitalize the downtown area and the beauty of the foothills. It’s a tight knit community that has great pride in its past and future.
